A GOOD CLEANING SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT.TUPPERWARE ITEMS PUT 2 CAP FULLS OF BLEACH IN HOT SOAPY DISH WATER & LET SOAK 10-20 MINS WILL REMOVE SMELLS. I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS WITH PLASTIC CONTAINERS WITH SMELLS & LITE STAIN REMOVAL...IT WORKS!  most items are  purchased second hand and may have smoke and/or pet smells from previous owners
